The presented program is designed in such a way that in addition to the obligatory courses of the study program intended for carrying out advanced professional tasks of the Masters in the field of health sciences, it also includes elective subjects. Such a structure of the study program enables the student to adapt the curriculum to his or her wishes and needs, and to the maximum extent possible by experts in the field of health sciences. The study program also includes obligatory involvement of students in research work so that graduates will be trained in the use of scientific and research techniques in the field of health and social sciences and will be able to use them as a supplement to their professional work in a clinical environment, in a wider range of problems and in new or changed circumstances.

With the second-level Health Sciences program, we adapted to demographic changes that bring many challenges and new conditions in the EU countries. New, additional skills, new paradigms are needed, with the promotion of health, nursing care and physiotherapy, therefore, the number of graduates of the second level in the field of health sciences must be increased, and in this way the system of education in Slovenia should be upgraded.

The content of the study is designed in such a way that the student, in the framework of compulsory subjects, upgrades basic knowledge in the field of methods of research work, with an emphasis on qualitative research methods, which are then applied in a particular case in the course of elective subjects and the master's thesis. By completing the two-year secondary education, the graduate will be equipped with additional special skills and competences useful in the immediate clinical environment, which will usefully contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality in the field of health and social sciences.

The graduate will be capable of actively engaging in socio-political life, capable of delivering expert opinions and co-decision on issues related to the preservation and return of health, disease prevention and rehabilitation, and will be trained to critically assess and introduce new scientific and scientific knowledge in the field of health in everyday practice. Thus, our graduate will become equal to European experts in this field.

Employment needs arise from the support of the clinical environment, where they welcome and support new programs in the field of health science. Graduates have many opportunities for self-employment in the field of economy (nursing and home care, day care centers for elderly physiotherapists), health resorts, private homes for the elderly, wellness centers, health promotion centers and counseling for healthy aging pharmacy and medical devices.
